Scars are marks left on the skin after a wound or injury has healed. They form a natural part of the bodies own healing process. Scars are usually made of fibrous tissue, meaning they have reduced movement compared to the surrounding skin. A scar can appear to be flat, lumpy, sunken or even raised.
Scars usually fade over time, however will never completely go. Treatments can help to minimise the appearance of scars.
